DAILY?READINGS: Gen. 44; Psalm 22; Matt. 25:31-46

…when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth. Jeremiah 36:23

With this reckless act, King Jehudi thought he had rid himself of the Lord’s words. Fire is just one of the means that man has used over the centuries, in his rebellious attempts to rid himself of God’s Word. Systematically, methodically, consistently, energetically…he has failed. The famous atheist Francois-Marie Arouet (Voltaire) was once asked why he wouldn’t just leave the Bible alone. “Because it won’t leave me alone”, was his reply. Like the bush encountered by Moses, they can burn it, but it will not be consumed. —Rick Morse
