DAILY READINGS: 1 Samuel 11:1-12:25; Isaiah 51:9-23; 2 Cor. 12:1-13

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. Titus 1:2

God is the standard of truth. At the cross He manifested the reality of human sin, but He also revealed His love, mercy, and grace towards sinners (Rom. 5:8). Believers’ eternal destinies depend on His eternal plan, which is guaranteed by His rock-solid faithfulness. “He cannot lie” and so salvation rests secure in His unshakeable promise (John 14:1-6). Our security lies in His trustworthiness, and He “is not a man, that he should lie” (Num. 23:19). As the hymn puts it: “On Christ salvation rests secure, the Rock of Ages must endure.” —K. R. Keyser
