DAILY READINGS: 1 Samuel 14:1-52; Isaiah 52:13-53:12; Romans 1:1-17

But the king shall rejoice in God. Psalm 63:11

It would appear that this psalm was written by David in the wilderness, fleeing from Saul. Nevertheless David refers to himself as king. He, deep down, had the belief that his anointing, described in 1 Samuel 16, would be fulfilled despite his present circumstances. Maybe the Lord has called you to a work but at the moment you are in the valley of despair as the door has not been opened. Remember what God has promised He will fulfill. His delays are not His denials. —Brian Russell

Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;
Bright skies will soon be o’er me,
Where dark the clouds have been. —Anna Waring
