DAILY?READINGS: 2 Samuel 23; Jeremiah 7; Ephesians 1:15 to 2:10

Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath… Zephaniah 1:18

Silver and gold represent security and assure a comfortable future, in the world of men. But such currency has no value in eternity. The apostle Peter wrote, “…ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Pet. 1:18-19). The only currency that has any value before God is the precious blood of the Lord Jesus. Only those who have availed themselves of this provision can know eternal peace and security. —W. H. Burnett

The rich man was there, but his money had melted and vanished away;
A pauper he stood in the judgment, his debts were too heavy to pay.
