DAILY?READINGS: 1 Kings 3; Jeremiah 11; Ephesians 4:17-32

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24
The Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6

The words “bare” and “laid” in these verses, introduce us to the subject of substitution. Our Saviour had to bear them before He could take them away. His death was sufficient to deal with the world’s sin as proclaimed by John the Baptist, ”the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). The just for the unjust, the sinless for the sinful. He gave His riches for our poverty. His death for our life. Hallelujah what a Saviour! —Drew Craig

I see the mighty sacrifice, and I have peace with God. —Horatius Bonar
