DAILY?READINGS: 1 Kings 8:31-66; Jer. 16; Philippians 1:21 to 2:11

For our conversation [citizenship] is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his own glorious body… Philippians 3:20-21

The “great expectation” of the believer is the coming of the Lord Jesus and nothing can ever deter that hope. Paul, the visionary, is here looking beyond this life and its problems. He sees the glorious prospect of divine transformation, when this body of humiliation will be transformed like unto Christ’s own glorious body. Emancipation, liberation, transformation awaits the believer. “Even so, come, Lord Jesus” (Rev. 22:20). —Jim Comte
