DAILY?READINGS: 2 Chronicles 32; Ezekiel 48; 1 John 2:12-29
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:5
The English word abide appears 11 times in John’s gospel but the Greek word from which it is translated appears 41 times. Abiding in Christ is a critical aspect of the life of the believer. We are told that the Holy Spirit abode upon the Lord Jesus (1:32). Theirs was a combined work. We need to abide in the Lord Jesus in our daily walk if we are to bear fruit for Him. We cannot bear fruit for the Lord unless we abide in Him (15:4). —D. M. M.
