DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 16:1-34; Psalm 119:113-144; Mark 6:1-29

This is my anguish. Psalm 77:10 (NKJV)

We are told in the preface who wrote this psalm, but one wonders who else could have written it. When we read about the experiences of many of God’s servants, could these be their words? Think of Moses’
exasperation, Naomi’s sorrow, Elijah’s loneliness, Jeremiah’s despair and Jonah’s frustration. These believers were great people, yet with feet of clay like us. Like these servants of God, we may express our
“grief” (NASB) through outbursts, depression, tears, or pettiness. What is the solution? Focus on the goodness of God (77:10). Nothing is so helpful as meditating on the Man of Sorrows and remembering
what great things He has done for us. —N. C. Funston

I must tell Jesus all of my trials; I cannot bear these burdens alone.
In my distress He kindly will help me; He ever loves and cares for His own. —Elisha A. Hamilton
