Examine the Scriptures Daily

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
– Acts 17:11

The Berean Jews were known for two things. First, they received the message of Paul with great eagerness. In the KJV, “eagerness” is translated “readiness of mind”. The Bereans were energized, ready and willing to receive the message from Paul. Are we eager to receive the Word of God like the Bereans?

Second, the Bereans examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. The word “examined” means to search, to investigate, to scrutinize, to question. The Bereans were not just satisfied with being under’s Paul’s teaching, but they had to compare it with the Scriptures to make sure it was true. And, not only that but they did this on a daily basis! Are we in the Word each day examining, investigating and searching?

Today, we have many different tools to help us in the examination of Scripture. We have commentaries, concordances, dictionaries and many more tools. These tools are not the inspired Word of God, but they assist us in digging into the Word of God and finding small, precious nuggets of truth that we can carry with us throughout the day!

Gospel Folio Press carries a handpicked list of study materials that can be used to dig deeper into the Word of God.
