DAILY READINGS: Numbers 18:1-32; Proverbs 15:1-33; 2 Peter 2:1-22

Father, I have sinned. Luke 15:21

God has used some unlikely people to do His work. Think of Jonah who ran from God’s call. He forgave Abraham for lying about Sarah being his sister. On the backside of the desert God called Moses. He entrusted the deliverance of a nation to him, a murderer who ran for his life. In the New Testament an earthly father eagerly forgave his prodigal son. Past failure need not deter us from service if we return in a humble sincere attitude of repentance. God can and does work through weakness to confound the wise (1 Cor. 1:27). —E. Dyck

I ask You, Lord, to take my hand,
And heal my inner blight;
So that these faltering footsteps,
Again can walk aright. —E. M. D.
