DAILY READINGS: Numbers 20:1-29; Proverbs 17:1-28; James 1:1-27

They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and ceaseth forever). Psalm 49:6-8

Redemption is not by silver or gold. No offering can purchase forgiveness. No wealth or social standing can arrange for special consideration by God. Mankind has no redeemer in its ranks, no one who can pay the price demanded. But God’s eternal Son became a man and gave His life to pay that awful ransom. Our redemption is by the precious blood of Christ (1 Pet. 1:18-19). —Carl Knott

Oh! Precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus. —Robert Lowry
