DAILY READINGS: Deut. 28:38-68; Amos 5:1-6:14; Luke 14:25-15:10

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. Luke 15:2

This statement was said in derision yet how true it is! No one who has ever come to the Lord in sincerity has been turned way. He is never too busy to receive anyone! How thankful we should be that the Lord does indeed receive sinners; sinners like you and me. —John M. Clegg

Sing it o’er and o’er again;
Christ receiveth sinful men;
Make the message clear and plain:
Christ receiveth sinful men. —Erdmann Neumeister

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 28:38-68; Amos 5:1-6:14; Luke 14:25-15:10

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4

On the cross the Lord Jesus bore our sins in His own body. Our whole sinful case and condition was taken up into His Person and was brought to an end in His death. This great work was completed at His resurrection. On confession of Jesus as Lord we formally surrender our life of sin, and rise in the strength of His resurrection to newness of life. Thereafter, though sin is not eradicated, we have the assurance that “sin will have no dominion over you” (Romans 6:14). —Drew Craig

I am resolved to follow the Saviour, faithful and true each day;
Heed what He sayeth; do what He willeth; He is the living Way.
