Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father. 1 Thessalonians 1:3, NKJV
Faith, hope, and love are the cardinal virtues of the Christian life, and they are the three greatest evidences of salvation. Positively, genuine faith leads to works for our Lord (Ephesians 2:8-10); love publicly evidences salvation (Romans 5:5); and hope expresses an alert expectation of Christ’s return (1 Thessalonians 1:10). Negatively, without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), we are without hope if without Christ (Ephesians 2:12), and if anyone loves not the Lord Jesus he is accursed (1 Corinthians 16:22). —W.
