DAILY READINGS: Judges 8:1-35; Isaiah 29:1-24; 1 Corinthians 8:1-13

And the men that held Jesus mocked him and smote him. Luke 22:63
And Herod with his men of war…mocked him. Luke 23:11
And when they had mocked him, they…led him out to crucify him. Mark 15:20
Likewise also the chief priests mocking him. Matthew 27:41

The Lord of glory was mocked and made sport of. Angels looked on, undoubtedly eager to defend. Demons must have been astonished at humanity’s audacity. Yet religious, political and military men united to ridicule and insult the Son of God! In contrast, we have the privilege today of holding Him in the highest esteem! —Pete Smith

Sinners in derision crowned Him, mocking thus the Saviour’s claim:
Saints and angels crowd around Him. Own His title, praise His Name. —Thomas Kelly
