DAILY READINGS: 1 Kings 9:1-28; Jeremiah 17:1-27; Philippians 2:12-30

My beloved is mine, and I am his. Song of Solomon 2:16

One of our children was very possessive. When we tried to take a toy away from her, she would emphatically say, “mine.” Are we as believers so thrilled by what the Lord has done for us that we joyfully proclaim that He is “mine”? Do we contemplate the amazing love that He had for us when He died to make us His bride? What a joy to know that my beloved is mine. —Mary Robins

Things that once were wild alarms, cannot now disturb my rest;
Closed in everlasting arms, pillowed on the loving breast.
O to lie forever here, doubt and care and self resign,
While He whispers in my ear, I am His, and He is mine. —George W. Robinson
