Leviticus 8:1-36; Psalm 108:1-13; Mark 1:1-20

And every man went unto his own house…Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. John 7:53; 8:1

What a contrast! Everyone went home to their families and friends to refresh themselves. But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives alone. The Lord’s priorities were foreign to everyone else’s. This world could not provide Him with a true and lasting refuge. He had work to do and could not rest till it was accomplished. The same is true of His followers; this world is not our resting place— or at least, it shouldn’t be! —Sid Halsband

This world is not my home, I’m just a-passing through,
My treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me, from heaven’s open door;
And I can’t feel at home, in this world anymore. —Jim Reeves
