1 Samuel 8:1-9:14; Isaiah 49:1-26; 2 Corinthians 10:1-18
Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah—am not I better to thee than ten sons? 1 Samuel 1:8
Hannah never answers this question from her husband. Was it because she could not admit to the one who loved her so much that truly he was not more to her than a son? That in her heart she knew that she should be satisfied with Elkanah’s love, but she wasn’t? Could we be like Hannah, not fully satisfied with the love of our Saviour? We look to relationships, children, friends, money, pleasures, health for satisfaction. These are all fine in themselves but we should be finding our all in all in the Lord. —M. Robins
Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light. —Dallán Forgaill
