2 Chronicles 31:1-21; Ezekiel 47:1-23; 1 John 1:1-2:11

Arise, get thee to Zarephath…behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. 1 Kings 17:9
Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail. 1 Kings 17:14

Elijah may have wondered why God would send him to a widow. But God had commanded her to sustain His servant. He had already learned that God works in extraordinary ways and so he went. And now the widow was about to experience God’s faithfulness. Through it, she learned a lesson that is valuable for us all. If God commands us to fulfill a task for Him, He will see that we have the resources to do it. Trust Him. —Ken Gross
