DAILY READINGS: Deut. 28:1-37; Amos 3-4; Luke 14:1-24

Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone. Jn. 16:32a

Jesus had initially chosen the twelve that they might be with Him. For more than three years they had been His companions, His friends, His little flock, but now, when it seemed that He needed them most, He was to be left—alone! He would be alone in the palace of the high priest; alone before Pilate and Herod; alone on the cross as a holy Sinbearer, forsaken even by God. What a lonely Man He was! —Jim Flanigan

Alone! Alone!
He bore it all alone.
He gave Himself to save His own,
He suffered, bled and died.
Alone! Alone! —B. H. Price
