Genesis 36; Psalms 9 to 10; Matthew 20:17-34
As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. John 3:14
Nearly 2 billion Chinese will be celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Snake today. The Serpent introduced sin into the world (Gen. 3:1-14), and we all became sinners because of Adam’s disobedience (Rom. 5:12). But God loved us and sent His Son to pay the penalty for our sin. “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must
the Son of man be lifted up” (John 3:14). Even if you are born in the year of the snake, come out from his snare, trust the Saviour and be saved from your sin. —K. C. Ung
High on the cross the Saviour hung,
High in the heav’ns He reigns:
Here sinners by th’ old serpent stung,
Look, and forget their pains.—Isaac Watts
