Numbers 8:1-26; Proverbs 5:1-6:19; Mark 15:24-47
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. Psalm 42:11
The psalmist despaired over past events and was anxious over what lay ahead. It is easy to become despondent over circumstances beyond our control and become pessimistic and fearful of what lies ahead. Discouragement over the past and dreading the future rob us of our present joy. The solution is to keep trusting the Lord. He is with us and will bring us through our present problems as we fix our eyes upon Him, our sure hope and certain future. —George Ferrier
My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand. —Edward Mote
