Paul knew external conflicts and inner fears. From prison, he exhorted the Philippians to respond to conflict with gentleness (forbearance) because the Lord is near. When tempted to worry, he exhorted them to immediately pray “to God”. May we always demonstrate a sweet reasonableness to others and a dependence upon our ever present and watching Lord. —George T.
