Description
Job is a book of superlatives. It’s likely the oldest book in our Bible. In describing Job, God said, “There is none like him on the earth.” We see a major showdown between the Lord and Satan, with Job as the target. The calamities that befell him must rank as some of the most tragic in human history. The interchange between Job and his “comforters” in discussing the dilemma of suffering is unrivaled in literature. And God’s own introduction of Himself and His management of the universe is the most detailed portrait anywhere. We may not have the mystery of suffering solved for us, but we’ll certainly stand agape at the glorious Person who is the Master of our destiny and Redeemer of our souls.
