DAILY?READINGS: Gen. 27; Job 34-35; Matt. 14:13-36

Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you:    1 Samuel 12:23

Samuel said this to Israel. But what a challenge to every Christian parent. Dad and Mom, you have a God-given responsibility and privilege, not only to teach your children God’s ways, but also to faithfully uphold each one individually in prayer before the Lord. You cannot keep them “tied to your apron strings” but praise God, you can hold onto them through prayer—when they leave the nest for college or a job, and have to face a world which is opposed to all you have taught them during their childhood. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man (or woman) availeth much” (Jam. 5:16).     —David Croudace

Prayer is the burden of a sigh, the falling of a tear,
The upward glancing of an eye, when none but God is near.—Montgomery
