DAILY READINGS: 2 Samuel 8:1-9:13; Habakkuk 1:1-17; Romans 14:19-15:13

For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh. Romans 9:3

Could this be said of us in regards to our love for the souls of others? The Scriptures record it, so Paul meant it. Very few could truthfully echo those words, except our blessed Saviour. Sins, He had none; guilt He had none; yet every sin of any individual who trusts Him as Saviour is washed away for ever. Christ has satisfied God’s divine justice. Gladly we sing, “No other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus.” —Vernon Markle

Thy work, not mine, O Christ,
Speaks gladness to my heart:
It tells me all is done; it bids all fear depart:
I rest in Thee, whose work alone,
Doth gloriously for sin atone. —Lowell Mason
