DAILY READINGS: Ex. 29:38 to 30:10; Psalm 78:1-31; Acts 17:16-34
I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift
not up the horn: Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a
stiff neck. Psalm 75:4-5
In this Psalm, the fool is simply instructed not to be foolish, but the
wicked are warned not to have a self-confi dent, rebellious spirit. God
resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble (1 Pet. 5:5). C. S.
Lewis said, “A man is never so proud as when striking an att itude of
humility.” D. L. Moody said, “God sends no one away empty except
those who are full of themselves.” Wisdom and forethought assist the
fool to avoid folly, but genuine brokenness and a contrite heart are the
only real solutions to my destructive pride. —Warren Henderson
May earth’s success seem nought, may self be lost to sight,
Reproach for Thee be counted joy and weakness turn to might. —D. S. M.
