Exodus 20:1-26; Psalms 60:1-61:8; Acts 11:1-18
At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee. Psalm 119:62
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God. Acts 16:25
Here is the best antidote for a poor night’s sleep. At the end of the day, our worries seem to rise up and assail us without mercy. When King Ahasuerus could not sleep, he did extra reading and God ultimately used it in the deliverance of His people (Esther 6). When Paul and Silas approached midnight, they sang praises to God and lives were forever changed. Remember, “Though by sin oppressed, go to Him for rest.” Have trouble sleeping? Don’t count the sheep, talk to the Shepherd. —M. Kolchin
When sleep her balm denies, my silent spirit sighs,
Jesus Christ be praised! When evil thoughts molest,
With this I shield my breast: may Jesus Christ be praised! —Unknown
