DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 2; Psalms 99-101; Acts 25:13-27

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that
justifi eth. Romans 8:33

What a joy it is to be justifi ed. We the underserving are justifi ed by
grace (Rom. 3:24). Our very name, believers, reminds us that we
are justifi ed by faith (Rom. 5:1). Although easy for us, it cost Christ
His life, for we are justifi ed by His blood (Rom. 5:9). As we live for
Him, we do so with confi dence, for we are fi lled with His resurrection
might, being justifi ed by power (Rom. 4:25). Praise God. He has
justifi ed us. —Duncan Maxwell

O joy of the justifi ed, joy of the free!
I’m washed in that crimson tide opened for me;
In Christ, my Redeemer, rejoicing I stand,
And point to the print of the nail in His hand. —Frank Bottome

DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 1; Psalms 96-98; Acts 24:24 to 25:12

Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for
herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD
of hosts, my King, and my God. Psalms 84:3

The weather was warming up and the days were gett ing longer.
Spring had fi nally arrived. As the sun began to set, a sparrow began
singing forth its praises so clear and joyfully that I joined in quiet
praise too. This litt le creature that is under the watchful gaze of the
Creator, the One who provides daily what He deems best, had come
through a long hard winter with a song in its heart. If His eye and
His care are upon even the least of these, will He not certainly remember
us in our circumstances too? —Jerry Proctor

Jesus is my portion; my constant friend is He,
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. —Civilla Martin

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 40; Psalms 94-95; Acts 24:1-23

And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds,
and with every leader. 1 Chronicles 13:1

The local churches of God’s people are not democracies but neither
are they autocracies. There are oft en those among us who like the
place of pre-eminence. Such was the spirit of Diotrophes, and it
caused great problems in the early church (3 John 9, 10). Let us make
sure that those who have a reponsibility for leading God’s people
do so with a sense of godly awe, and are always prepared to seek
counsel for their decisions. “In the multitude of counsellors there is
safety.” (Prov. 24:6) —Brian Russell

O lead me Lord, that I may lead the wavering and wandering feet,
O feed me Lord, that I may feed Thy hungering ones with manna sweet.

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 39; Psalms 92-93; Acts 23:12-35

Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
Genesis 15:1b
Cast not away therefore your confi dence, which hath great recompence
of reward. Hebrews 10:35

God says He Himself is an exceeding great reward to those who trust
Him. Thus, when He returns, His presence will be a great reward in
itself. The promise of His return was made a long time ago, so long
that some may believe He won’t come in their lifetime. We must not
cast this confi dence away. Countless believers now with Him, have
sincerely believed He would come in their lifetime and lived in the
light of it. We should have a similar outlook. —Tom Steere

He is coming as the Bridegroom, coming to unfold at last,
The great secret of His purpose, mystery of ages past. —Unknown

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 38; Psalms 90-91; Acts 22:22 to 23:11

I came down from heaven, not to do Mine own will, but the will
of Him that sent Me. John 6:38

One of the many virtues of Christ is His utt er commitment to do the
Father’s will. There was no independence nor selfi shness in His impeccable
person. What about us? Can we truly say, “I came not to do
my own will, but God’s will”? We are taught to pray that way in Matthew
6, “Thy will be done on earth.” God has a will and a plan for our
lives. Will we, like Christ, embrace that will and enroll in the school
of obedience, saying, “Not my will, but Thine”? —Carl Knott

When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey. —J. H. Sammis

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 37; Psalm 89:19-52; Acts 22:1-21

The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep
your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Are you troubled about the state of this world? Are you perplexed?
You should not be, for the world is governed by sin and Satan is its
god. It is of necessity that it is evil. Do not be surprised when international
conferences fail, when the situation goes from bad to worse.
The Scriptures have taught us to expect this. But as believers, we are
living in the centre of the hurricane where all is peace. Christian, in
nothing be anxious, for our God is in control. —Robert E. Surgenor

While I hear life’s surging billows, peace, peace, is mine!
Why suspend my harp on willows? Peace, peace, is mine! —J. D. Smith

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 36; Psalm 89:1-18; Acts 21:17-40

If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship
one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth
us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

Walking is just the repetition of one step aft er another. Step by step—
our spiritual walk has a deeper signifi cance. It means that we are
living close to the Lord. Proverbs counsels us to “Ponder the path of
your feet,” and Peter says, “Follow His steps.” If we don’t we’ll end
up in all the wrong places. If we walk with Him we have fellowship
and forgiveness. This is real power walking! —Rex Trogdon

Walk in the light: and sin abhorred
Shall ne’er defi le again;
The blood of Jesus Christ, thy Lord,
Shall cleanse from every stain.—Bernard Barton

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 35; Psalms 87-88; Acts 21:1-16

King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria,
and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent
to Urij ah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the patt ern of it,
according to all the workmanship thereof. 2 Kings 16:10

The conduct of Ahaz and Urij ah stands in dramatic contrast to God’s
instruction to Moses in regards to the Old Testament tabernacle. Seven
times God said it was to be, “according to the patt ern.” God has given
us a biblical patt ern for the local church and the structure of the family.
When we deviate and emulate the world’s systems, spiritual chaos
is the result. May we obey Him in all things. —W. H. Gustafson

Ye that obey th’immortal King, att end His holy place;
Bow to the glories of His power, and bless His wondrous grace. —I. Watts

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 34:4-35; Psalms 85-86; Acts 20:17-38

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39

This beautiful text hangs on a wall of the writer’s humble home. It is a
daily reminder of God’s great love. It is unlimited, unsurpassable and
everlasting. It need not be on your wall. Is the truth of it in your heart?
—E. MacLelland

Could we with ink the ocean fi ll, and were the skies of parchment made;
Were ev’ry stalk on earth a quill, and ev’ry man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, tho’ stretched from sky to sky.—B. I. N.

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 33 to 34:3; Psalms 83-84; Acts 20:1-16

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness:
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 8:12

I once att ended the funeral of a believing mother and her seven young
children. As the caskets were being carried out, the father of these
children—the lone survivor—cradled the casket of his twoyear- old
daughter and silently wept. All at once, more than a thousand people
began to weep with him. I have never heard a sound like it. Dear
friend, if you should die without Christ, you will spend eternity in a
place where the weeping is far worse than anything we’ve ever experienced
here. Trust Him while there’s time! —L. Shatford

Help us to trust and believe ’tis Thy way.
Like him for whom we know Heav’n is begun,
We would say earnestly, His will be done. —J. E. H.
