Chosen In Christ?

What does it mean to be “chosen in Christ”? Election and predestination are clearly taught in the Bible, but sadly these great doctrines have been distorted by some people into a theory of theological determinism which negates both human responsibility and the exercise of free will. To say this is to have missed their real meaning, ignoring the main thrust of the revelation of Scripture that our God is the God of all grace who is not willing that any should perish. In these pages, many passages of Scripture which relate to the sovereign purposes of God and the effect of the moral choices of men are discussed and clarified.
James L Crookes is a retired civil servant, living in Northern Ireland. He was converted in 1937, and has been in assembly fellowship since then. He served in the RAF from 1939 to 1946, four of those years being in Egypt. Along with his professional activities and his involvement in Christian work, Crookes studied singing after the war and for several years broadcast as a bass soloist on the BBC. He is married with one daughter and four sons, all of them Christians.
