DAILY READINGS: Exodus 14:5-31; Psalms 49-50; Acts 7:30 to 8:4
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. Prov. 16:5
The seed of pride lies in every human heart. All it needs is the right condition to spring up and manifest itself. Some people are proud of their bodies; others of their success in life; their homes; their education; their nationality; their children; their status before others. God hates pride. What keeps the godly Christian humble is that he constantly surveys the cross. How can one be proud when they consider what their sins did to Christ? —Robert E. Surgenor
When I survey the wondrous cross, on which the Lord of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.
—Isaac Watts
