Many passages in the gospels speak of the Father’s love for the Son, but
only here does the Son explicitly state His love for the Father. At the
cross He perfectly demonstrated His love for the Father. On this side
of Calvary, no one can credibly question His devotion to the Divine
will. His work there showed God’s righteous hatred of sin, His commitment
to justice, and His unfathomable grace towards sinful men.
