DAILY READINGS: Deut. 5; Eccl. 7; Luke 8:1-21
And Amaziah did that which was right in the sight of the LORD,
but not with a perfect heart. 2 Chronicles 25:2
If we are honest with ourselves, one of the things that distresses us
in relation to our service for the Lord is lack of wholeheartedness.
We can be so cold and mechanical at times in our eff orts for the
Master. What we do may look good in the sight of others, but our
hearts can be like stone, and we can develop an inner negativity
about others that undermines our whole Christian life. Remember
and emulate Caleb who “wholly followed the Lord” (Num. 13:12).

By Thy Spirit grant that we,
Worshippers in truth may be;
Praise, as incense, sweet to Thee;
Father we adore Thee. —S. T. Francis
