DAILY READINGS: 2 Kings 4; Jeremiah 37; Hebrews 9:1-14
Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? Behold, and see if there be
any sorrow like unto My sorrow, which is done unto Me, wherewith
the LORD hath affl icted Me in the day of his fi erce anger.
Lamentations 1:12
Many had suff ered the excruciating physical pain and shame of
death by crucifi xion. But the Saviour endured something which
no other ever had, nor ever could. Alone in the darkness, He cried
out, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” We are told
why—God Himself had laid our sins upon His beloved Son. He
then had to endure the fi ery judgment of God for that sin. Alone He
bore it all! Let us remember Him and worship. —David Croudace
Jehovah bade His sword awake; O Christ it woke ‘gainst Thee!
