DAILY READINGS: 1 Chronicles 3 to 4:23; Ezekiel 5-6; John 1:1-18
To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: that He might be
just, and the justifi er of him which believeth in Jesus. Romans 3:26
Only the Lord can claim to be just. But to be the Justifi er of sinners
and still be just, how could it be? There is only one way and
one place these two could meet. The Cross marks the spot. There
Christ reaches out in justice while reaching down to justify. Peter
states, “Christ suff ered once for sins, the Just for the unjust, that
He might bring us to God” (1 Pe. 3:18). Hallelujah, what a Saviour!

Upon the cross of Jesus, mine eye at times can see;
The very dying form of One, who suff ered there for me;
And from my smitt en heart with tears,
Two wonders I confess: the wonders of His glorious love,
And my own worthlessness. —Elizabeth C. Clephane
