Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land
for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master’s son
may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat
bread alway at my table. 2 Samuel 9:10
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalms 23:6 David
made provision for his friend’s son because of love. Our heavenly
Father has provided a place for us at His table, because He so
loved us. But there is a diff erence. Mephibosheth was provided for
only as long as the king lived. We have David’s “greater Son” and
