DAILY READINGS: 1 Samuel 16; Isaiah 55 to 56:8; Romans 2
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
Grace is often described as “unmerited favour”. Grace relates to the source of the gift that is given. Mercy relates to the state of the person who receives it. Mercy is great because of my need. Grace is great because of the Person who meets my need, none other than the incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. In our present society where hateful sin, sectarianism and racism abound, the Gospel of God’s amazing and transforming grace is its only hope. May God help us to make this known. —Drew Craig
