DAILY READINGS: 1 Samuel 21-22; Isaiah 61; Romans 6:1-14

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Revelation 19:8

Isaiah saw the best acts of men as filthy rags in God’s sight. In John’s day, linen was made from a tree with leaves like the willow. From the leaves, holy, white garments were made. The difference between “filthy rags” and “white linen", is due to Jesus’ death on Calvary’s tree, to make us righteous in God’s sight. —Arnot McIntee

I will not gaze at glory, but on the King of grace. —Anne Ross Cousins
