DAILY READINGS: 1 Samuel 28-29; Isaiah 66; Romans 8:18-39

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
Ps. 40:2

He brought me to the banqueting house, and His banner over me [was] love. Song Of Solomon 2:4

What a Saviour! “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit”. A pit was often used as a confining area for a prisoner, and sometimes had a quagmire of clay in the bottom. Prior to conversion, we were trapped in a quagmire of sin and held prisoner by Satan. Thank God, we have been released by our mighty Saviour who delighted to bring us into his banqueting house and placed over us His banner of one word, “Love.” — Arnot McIntee

From sinking sand He lifted me, with tender hand He lifted me;
From shades of night, to planes of light, O praise his name, He lifted me!—C.H.G.
