DAILY READINGS: 2 Samuel 22; Jeremiah 6; Ephesians 1:1-14

It came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although the land was near: for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt. Exodus 13:17

God, in his infinite wisdom, did not want a newly regenerated and liberated people to witness war. How sad it is when young believers join themselves to a local church, only to find that the believers are at loggerheads with each other. Young converts then often ask themselves what their new life of fellowship is all about—and some even drift back into “Egypt”! —Brian Russell

There is a scene where spirits blend, where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet, around one common mercy seat.—H.S.
