DAILY READINGS: Gen. 13-14; Job 16-17; Matt. 8:1-27
So Shishak king of Egypt came and…carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made. Instead of which Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house. 2 Chron. 12:9-10
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent. Revelation 2:4-5a
Pure gold was replaced by “brass”, yet it was still guarded as though it was genuine! Is my life like that? My first love for the Lord has been replaced by a false, hypocritical life! "Remember"—what it was like to be motivated by love for Him, "repent" and "start afresh."
