Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:29-30
A yoke joins oxen to help with their task of carrying heavy loads. The yoke is perfectly made to fit the oxen so they can work together. The Lord used this illustration to show that when we place our faith in Him we are now in a close personal relationship with Him. His yoke is tailor-made in that He will not allow us to bear more than we can handle, because He has been "touched with the feeling of our infirmities" (Heb. 4:15).
