DAILY READINGS: Deut. 20-21; Joel 2; Luke 12:1-21

He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth. Isaiah 53:7

Regarding the word of the Lord Jesus in creation, we read, "For He spake and it was done: He commanded, and it stood fast," (Ps.33:9). But when it came to our redemption, the Lord was silent, to the extent that Pilate and Herod marveled that He did not say a word in His defence. No! His silence demonstrated His voluntary submission to the will of the Father. May the Lord give us wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent.
