As thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death. 1 Sam. 20:3b
For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14b
The fragility of life is expressed in these verses. Teeth don’t have much skin, and if we take one false step, we, like a rising vapour could leave this scene. What will it be like to hear Him say my name, just as He called the apostle John to “Come up here,” (Rev. 4:1)? How thankful we should be for our hope in Christ.
