DAILY READINGS: Nehemiah 1-2; Daniel 11:21-45; Revelation 7

And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

Being an elder is often not only a thankless job, but a criticized one. We would do well instead to appreciate their diligent labour. Hours spent in prayer, visitation and counsel. Burdens shared, tears shed, the will of God sought. All of this and more alongside the trials and tribulations of their own lives. Take a moment to be thankful for your elders. Pray for them, encourage them, and love them. —C. Oriold

O seek the Lord in prayer and fall down at Christ’s feet,
As two or three are gathered there, entreaties shall Christ meet!—John A. Dellas
