And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies. Numbers 10:9
The blowing of the silver trumpets was not only to marshal Israel for war, but it was also an appeal to the Lord to save them from their enemies. When the day of grace commenced, the trumpets were blown against the powers of darkness. Paul exhorts us to, “Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier,” (2 Tim. 2:3-4). Lord, help in the battle.—R. Surgenor
