Consider how great things he hath done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24

The purpose of the Lord’s Supper is not to remember our sin, but to remember Him! Samuel exhorted the people to fear the Lord and to serve Him in truth, remembering His marvelous works. We have so much more to remember and consider, for we look back to Calvary and the empty tomb. Of all the marvelous things that God has done for us, the greatest is the sacrifice of His Son. He bore our sins. He finished redemption’s work. We are washed, sanctified, justified, and now called “the sons of God” (1 John 3:1). As we gather to consider His great works, may our hearts overflow with gratitude and praise. —Carl Knott

Come, thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.
