DAILY?READINGS: Gen. 15-16; Job 18-19; Matt. 8:28 to 9:17

For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not…therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you… Isaiah 30:15, 18

Israel was called to a quiet walk in fellowship with God but they rejected that way of life and substituted activity—fleeing on horses, (v. 16) in its place. If we want to grow spiritually and be useful to God, constant activity, even Christian service, must never take the place of quiet communion with the Lord. Maybe He has spoken to us before about this but like Israel “we would not”. Is He patiently “waiting” for you in that place of quietness? —David Croudace
