DAILY?READINGS: Judges 5; Isaiah 26; 1 Corinthians 5

But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Daniel 3:18

Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah served God and the Babylonian civil service simultaneously. Their obedience to Him coupled with diligent work led to high levels of governmental responsibility. Because their first loyalty was to the Lord they refused to bow to the golden image though this meant a death sentence. The Almighty could rescue, but they conceded that it may not be His will to do so. Regardless of their situation, they trusted Him. When pressured to compromise, we must obey God rather than men. —K. R. Keyser

Then blessed is the soul that flies, for refuge to His grace. —Isaac Watts
