DAILY?READINGS: 1 Samuel 6-7; Isaiah 48; 2 Corinthians 9

And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you…blessed are all they that wait for him. Isaiah 30:18

Only Joshua obeyed Moses’ injunction to the elders to wait till he came down from the mount. Aaron succumbed to people pressure and built a golden calf. Joshua, hearing the noise in the camp said, “There is a noise of war in the camp” (Ex. 32:17). Though he had been the general in Israel’s last battle, Joshua resisted the temptation to assume God wanted him to leave his post to lead in this battle. Nor did he bypass authority. He stayed in place till Moses arrived. Such submission to authority and ability to wait surely showed the qualities of a leader God could use. —M. M.
