DAILY?READINGS: 1 Samuel 25; Isaiah 63:15 to 64:12; Romans 7:7-25

And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal…And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me…And he offered the burnt offering. 1 Samuel 13:8-9

As soon as Saul had wrongly offered the burnt offering, Samuel arrived within the prescribed seven day period. Saul was not willing to wait on God’s time. One of the hardest things to do sometimes is to wait on the Lord. Have events not happened as quickly as you wanted? Be patient. God’s timings are always perfect. —Brian Russell

Teach me Thy patience; still with Thee;
In closer, dearer company.
In work that keeps faith sweet and strong,
In trust that triumphs over wrong. —W. Gladden
